We Interrupt This Break to Help a Fellow Author

I miss you, Dear Readers. Please know that my ankle is fine, I have passable vision in my right eye, and everything that can be done at the last minute gets done at the last minute. Ask me how frustrated I am right now.

On second thought, DON’T. Think about John Howell’s brand-spanking new thriller instead. You can preview it here: http://www.amazon.com/My-GRL-John-W-Howell-ebook/dp/B00HV3QECW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390961603&sr=8-1&keywords=john+howell+my+grl

I’ve enjoyed getting to know John over the past year, and I am honored to host him here on the ACM.

  1. I’m catching up- you’ve been having a break while I’ve been sleeping. I know about your ankle (reminded me of an appointment I once had- “Great feet, very mobile, good condition. Of course, you’ll need an operation…”) but what did I miss about your eye? is your body falling apart at the very thought of walking?

    January 29, 2014
    • See reply to James. I am completely fine. Maybe my body started falling apart when I had this walking idea. I have been planning it since last summer. At least, that’s when I first pitched it to my dad.

  2. Sounds like a good read. Sorry about your ankle. I’ve been out of the loop. Don’t even know what happened.

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

    I have missed you!!!

    • I was hoping to have my site ready Saturday. We’ll see. I am waiting for a few things that are beyond my control or the scope of my ability.

      January 29, 2014
  4. Sounds like a good book- I will have to look for it. Hope you are well!

    January 29, 2014
  5. Looks like a captivating read. On my list it goes. Keep on healing. Warming trend here – up to zero!

    January 29, 2014
    • We have a dusting of snow. Everything is shut down. Schools. Bridges. Everything. I think we got some ice, too, and that’s the real problem.

      January 29, 2014
  6. Thank you for posting this. I know you are really busy so this is special.

    January 29, 2014
    • You made it really easy, John, but I was tickled to do it.

      January 29, 2014
    • Congratulations John!! Looks like a great read. 🙂

Andra, feel better and come back soon.

      January 29, 2014
      • I feel great……just technically challenged. Ha.

        January 29, 2014
  7. Your ankle and your eye? At the same time? WTH… Are you ok? Now I am worried. sigh

    January 29, 2014
    • My eye has been acting up since Thanksgiving. I wrote about it once but didn’t want to dwell on it. Given time, it will be fine. My ankle injury came from yoga initially, but all the walking aggravated it. I’ve been seeing my chiropractor Stephen Khouri weekly, and he is now convinced I can walk as long as I want. He works with the C of C sports teams, so he is used to evaluating injuries like mine. So, I am fine, other than these technical things that are over my head………I’d rather go out and walk 15 miles in our snow and ice today than deal with these site issues.

Take care. I know how physical pain (or even physical annoyance or irritation) can really bring a gal down. Thinking of you…

  8. I’m glad things are improving. Passable vision works! Take care of your feet! You’ve got many long walks ahead of you.
    This book sounds exciting!

    January 29, 2014
    • I am perfectly fine. It’s all these website details that may cause me to lose my religion.

      January 29, 2014
  9. Be safe in the snow & ice. Sorry to hear the eye is still giving you trouble. Make sure to get enough sleep, exhaustion surely won’t help the eye.

    January 29, 2014
    • I slept 10 hours last night, since we have the barest scrim of snow this morning in Charleston and everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is shut down. 🙂

      January 29, 2014
      • hunker down and enjoy your snow day!

        January 29, 2014
      • I’m still in my pajamas. 🙂

        January 29, 2014
      • Me too. 🙂 The benefits of WFH. Day 3 and I’m still rockin the pajama look.

Although I had a mild panic yesterday when I had a web meeting with someone in operations and I thought for a second we had webcams enabled. Now that would have been awkward…

        January 29, 2014
      • Back when Google Hangouts first appeared, I wrote a post from a lunchtime discussion with Kenneth. He reported numerous issues with people doing hangouts naked or partially naked……working from home and forgetting to put a shirt on before going live and such. Glad you didn’t have the video live for your web conference. 🙂

        January 29, 2014
      • No kidding. I wasn’t naked, but my white cami top left little to the imagination. Especially when the condo is so cold in the morning.

        January 29, 2014
      • Hahaha!

    Got it. Miss you.

    January 29, 2014
    • I’ve tried to be better on social media, at least in commenting and liking things. I can’t decide what to do if this isn’t all done to my liking by Saturday.

      January 29, 2014
  11. Glad to hear things are on the mend Andra and I wish you quick healing. BTW, I’m a quarter of the way through My GRL and it’s a great read.

    January 29, 2014
    • I think I’m in about the same place as you, Phillip.

      January 29, 2014
  12. Thanks for another great recommendation Andra, I always enjoy your choices. 🙂 Take care and enjoy your snowy day.

    January 29, 2014
    • Thanks, Lisa. My hand is cramping from writing letters today. With good hot beverages. 🙂

      January 29, 2014
  13. hope your body is regenerating itself as i write this. as for the book, it sounds very intriguing and i love thrillers/mysteries. throw in a dash of terrorism and it’s the perfect formula. thanks for the recommendation. ps – i love that he lives on mustang island. how cool is that?

    January 29, 2014
    • I think that’s pretty cool, though certainly warmer than here today. ha.

      January 29, 2014
  14. Heal and be well, my friend! Thanks for the book suggestion. 🙂

    January 29, 2014
    • I’m doing great. Trying to figure out how to get a walk in tomorrow without slipping on the icy bridge. It’s still closed.

      January 29, 2014
  15. Sounds riveting. Glad the ankles and eyes are getting back to normal!

    January 29, 2014
  16. You keep showing up when I’m not expecting to see you. LOL! But this is a nice surprise to read a good review. I love a good thriller. 🙂

    January 31, 2014
  17. Wait a minute! What the hell has happened here? Your ankle? Your Eye? I haven’t been around for a bit and now I get this. You wouldn’t be trying to weasel out of that big Trace hike thing would you? I must go back and look at your earlier posts.

But, John’s story sounds interesting, and the cover art is catching… I would have definitely picked it up off a table in a bookstore. And any guy that lives on a small island off the mainland has to be cool.

    January 31, 2014
    • That’s what you get, Ted. Ha.

I am fine. Completely fine. One of my cousins told me I am more of a man than he is over this whole walking thing. I’ll take it.

      January 31, 2014
      • But… what happened??? Oh, you looked so cute today out walking… nice selfie.

        February 1, 2014
  18. Andra, I’m so sorry to learn you hurt yourself. I hope you’re being waited on hand and foot. Be gentle with yourself and heal up.

    January 31, 2014
  19. Hope all is well, Andra….and things get a little less frustrating. Off to check out John’s work! Thanks!
