A Pox On Your House

His bike doesn't look like this anymore.......

His bike doesn’t look like this anymore…….

Thanks to the ear bud wearing jerk on the bridge, MTM is having surgery. This Monday. 2:30pm EST.

I really wish I had pictures of his bones, because they’re kind of cool. The end of his collarbone snapped away from his shoulder bone. It will not repair itself without a plate and a band to force it back into place. According to the surgeon, the procedure isn’t complicated.

However, surgery is always scary. I’ve never been a fan of anesthesia, though it’s better than the alternative.

We both appreciate the outpouring of concern from friends around the world. Thank you for the messages, calls and texts. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

And to the girl who caused all this with her oblivious, self-centered, ear-budded life, a pox on your house.

  3. I hope MTM isn’t in too much pain (or has good drugs) and that he swiftly recovers from the surgery. I’ll be thinking of the both of you on Monday.

  4. I can picture the ear-bud wearing girl now with boils and discolorations. A pox! A pox on her and her house! Or maybe that voodoo doll you have… 😉

  5. I’m sorry to hear that MTM was hurt. I hope he recovers quickly. I never had any problems with anesthesia. I think it’s fascinating how one minute you are conscious and then several hours later you wake up as if no time had passed at all – it didn’t even feel like sleeping. It was just this void. You are right – it’s better than the alternative.

  7. I will find a way to exact your revenge on her through terrible fiction. In the meantime, take good care of MTM.

Oh Andra, I’m so sorry MTM is going to have to have surgery. I really hate that you have to deal with this right now and I’m sure MTM is not feeling so hot either.

Please tell him we’re thinking of him and lunch is on us again next time. XO (if you need anything don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here.)

  10. There is nothing to like about this except that people are letting you both know they care. Many father, the surgeon, always said, “There is no such thing as ‘simple’ surgery.” We’ll send prayers and positive thoughts to all involved in his care and treatment.

  11. We’ll be thinking of the both of you. Blessings as well.

  12. 😦 I’m so sorry.

  13. Another example of how life can change in an instant based on circumstances out of your control. I’m so sorry Michael has to go through this surgery, but it must be really encouraging to hear the doctor describe it as pretty routine. I’m so glad to hear it won’t impact your plans for Thanksgiving getaway. Postitive bone-healing thoughts being sent his way. xoxo

I’ll be thinking of you two and sending healing and soothing vibes your way (plus a prayer or two, or three…). I’m curious if the Ear-Bud Chick even knew what she did! Some people are so oblivious. Did she even check up on him? Take his number to check up on him? Or, did she just saunter away? Calming and healing vibes headed your way.

  15. I will visualize peace, harmony, humor, and ease surrounding you both.

  16. It is unfortunate that the average person’s level of situational awareness approaches zero. Very few seem to care how what they do affects those around them.

    Get well soon MTM.

  17. hang in there! thank Gawd for good medical care!

  18. My best wishes today and through the recovery period to MTM and his harrowed wife. And, really, Andra, as I fumed on your original post, I am PISSED at the earbud-wearing mobile bike race obstacle. It does my heart a little good to see you wish a pox on her house today.

  19. Very best wishes to you both.

  21. Sending positive thoughts to you and MTM.!

  22. Hoping for a speedy recovery time (and hoping the damaged bike is “fixable,” too)!!

It is such a sad commentary that so many among us are so unaware and, worse, that many are so unrepentant for the messes they make!

  23. Definitely thinking of both of you. Will write you soon. So sorry for Michael having to have surgery. I hope at least the woman who caused this is at least aware of her culpability.

  25. Hope “dem bones” they are amending. Sigh.

  26. A pox on her house indeed, Andra. 😦 I know a massage therapist who had this surgery after her own “over the handlebars” accident and she made a full recovery. We’re sending MTM all our healing thoughts and adding some comforting ones for you as well.

    November 22, 2014
  27. All the best for tomorrow, we are thinking of you – fingers crossed everything goes to plan. Take care, both xx
